PALAZZO CAPPELLANI

Museo vista esterna

This elegant building, in classical style, was built at the beginning of this century. In the 1960s it was purchased by the Sicilian Region to become the Archaeological Museum. This Archaeological Museum, which has been awaiting its inauguration-opening for many years now, will house the archaeological finds discovered in the extensive Acre area and the Iudica archaeological collection recently acquired by the Syracuse Superintendency.

Part of the finds that made up the collection of Baron Gabriele Judica, from Akrai, Kasmene and Leontinoi, are exhibited at Palazzo Cappellani, in the center of Palazzolo Acreide, where the regional archaeological museum was set up with materials dating back to prehistoric times to the Byzantine age.
