ANTIQUARIUM DI SOLUNTO

Collezione di Anfore

At the entrance to the the State property of the Sicilian Region archaeological area is the Antiquarium, which is divided into two complexes. The entrance pavilion contains the most representative architectural and decorative elements of the houses of the Hellenistic-Roman Solunto. Relevant are the examples of the capitals which document the variety of types that decorated the peristyles of the houses and the mosaic emblem from the Casa di Leda with the representation of the armillary sphere, which constitutes a unicum of considerable artistic value.

The second pavilion shows a selection of the ceramic material that documents the life of the Archaic-Classical settlement, the Hellenistic-Roman city and the necropolis.
